CCL Problems

The Kansas Attorney General's office must be understaffed. I hand carried my renewal form and a $25.00 check to them on 12/12/22. I noticed my check still hadn't cleared the bank. I called them Friday and asked what was going on. The girl on the phone told me that they are backlogged until sometime in March. This has never happened before. I advised her that my current license expired on 1/3/23. She said, "No problem, Kansas has Consitutional Carry you know. You can still carry legally." Well...I knew that, but that doesn't help me if I go out of state. Aside from that, I paid for a 4-year license. It's going to be a 3-year 9 month license.

AZ has had similar issues i believe. I got a couple years on mine, hoping it's cleared up by then.
Gosh- I thought Alabama was a backwards state (not knocking it- I love it). But we can renew by mail, or online (takes about 10 days), or we can pop in in person- and walk out with new license in hand- in about 15 min, unless it's a first time permit- then it may be a couple days. Lunch time may be a little slower.
If over 60- a lifetime permit is $150. Been thinking about that?

Although Taxylvania (Pennsylvania) can be rough on certain areas, our CCW laws are pretty easy and quick. Walk in, fill out the paper, pay $20, wait a minute or so for the background check to go through, walk out with your card. It took me longer to do the paper than it did to get the permit. Good for 5 years. Not sure if they have a life time option or not, but will definitely check into that.

I remember the toughest part to get PA's was finding a parking spot around the delaware County courthouse with my hd truck in the snow, except I had to go twice (out of state)

Delaware is not that easy. It's not difficult but there's a lot of running around and costs

Maryland was actually better than delaware after bruin made hogan change the permitting. Everything was online and veterans are exempt from the classes. It was just a hike to get printed in Baltimore

Wish they issued lifetime permits here.

That seems like a no-brainer to me. Just not having to deal with the hassle of renewing your permit would be worth $150.

In Colorado our permit is 5 years. We actually got a letter from the Sheriff's Office reminding us to renew it 6 months in advance. I think we sent in our paperwork 3 months in advance and we had our physical permits before our old permits expired.

Our permits are $20 here in Bama. 5 years -$100.
I believe most will not renew this year as our "constitutional carry" went into effect Jan 1.
However- I will keep a permit because I cross state lines often.

Living in a "shall issue" and constitutional carry state, it takes me a few minutes to get a CCL if I want to drive the 10 miles to get one renewed. I have the choice of with picture ($10 charge) or without picture. Next renewal, I'm getting my picture so I will have a govt. issued ID with picture which is occasionally asked for.

I don't have to have a license in my state being constitutional carry, open or concealed, but I want one for reciprocity when I travel. I first check for reciprocity and a cursory check of every state's laws I go through. There are communist states in this commonly called democracy. It just depends on which state you're in......
Years ago when I got my CCL in Indiana I got the lifetime license just because I didn't what to have the problem of renewing it. Now we have constitutional carry so there is no need for anyone to renew unless going out of state.
I was thinking the same thing. Not that Alabama is backwards, but that the CHL renewal process should be online. ;)
