I have ton of lead weights from shrimp trawls and diver weights. I'm wondering if I can cast lead 7.62 bullets for an AK47. Is it alright to shoot pure lead bullets in a rifle?

What about pure lead bullets in all rifles? I may make some for 7.62x54, 30-06, .270, ect.

cast bullets

You do not want to shoot pure lead in anything over 700-800 fps. For rifles you will need 2 things, Linotype and a gas check bullet. Anything less WILL cause you problems. Linotype is lead with tin and antimony added. It is very hard and very expensive in comparison to soft lead or wheel weights (lead and tin only).

There are bullet molds that are made for just a project. 120-130 gr. pointed w/gas check.

Lead in a gas operated firearm is not generally thought of as good. The lead can get into the gas port in the barrel. Have to make sure it stays clean, can cause operational problems.
