I picked up 500 rounds of .22 LR shotshells today. Soon be time to get the smoothbore Humdinger out to shoot carpenter bees again. I had a ball shooting them last spring. They do a lot of damage to untreated wood

That must be a riot! Do they bust up like little "Japanese Zeros Over the Pacific"??
I talked to a guy at the gun club a long time ago who was into completion air rifle shooting. He told me that in the summertime he would take a paper target and lightly spray it with a orange juice mixture, tack it up, and shoot the flies when they would land on the target at 15 yards or so. He said they would leave a nice grease stain on the paper when you hit them square on!

Growing up we had them all the time. I used to wait until evening right around dusk. All the bees would be in their hive and I would seal them in with caulking. Man the racket they would make the next morning was incredible, nothing like a hive full of pissed off bees. :D
