Can i put 6.5 or 6.8 in 223 mags?

    Can I put 6.5 or 6.8 in 223 mags?

    In a word , NO , you can only load about 5 - 10 Rds before mags bulge to much to fit in mag well. This is PMAG or GI mags, the mag walls are to thin. The 6.8 works best with Stainless Steel mags ,ie .. CPD ,ASC,Barrett.....etc. I use these 3 brands & have no trouble out of my mags. Don't know about 6.5G , sorry. Mickey

    Thanks. I forgot that 6.5 is actually for the ar-10 designs.

    The 6.5 Grendel is for ar-15 lowers not ar-10. There are other 6.5's that someone might build an ar-10 upper for but the grendels are ar15.
