So I sent my paperwork into the ATF for my C&R license today. How long does it usually take for them to process? Hoping to find some good deals on cool old guns.

Depends on their work load. If you paid with a check watch for it to clear.

It will be at minimum one month.

Thanks! That's kind of what I was expecting. Gives me a little time to save ip for stuff.

I've bought bulk ammo online before so you don't need the C&R for that, just collectible firearms.

ATF is running just shy of 90 days.

As said, C&R is not needed to buy ammo.

When you get it, DO NOT SIGN IT. Make copies, sign them before you send them out.

Prepare to stay broke but happy. Be sure to set up a "bound volume" to record weapons you acquire and dispose of.

Mine took about five months last year. Seems that the responsible person for my area (New England) had been temporarily assigned to other work. I had to call several times to get that persons boss to intervine and approve the paperwork. BATFE is a government entity, don't expect efficiency!

My first C&R took about three weeks but I failed to renew on time and had to resubmit all the paperwork and it took about nine weeks to get the renewal.

Now they know right where to find you and exactly what to use against you.
The Feds will not know what he has unless they actually come to his house for an inspection. That may or may not actually happen (it may at some point). Even then, I don't know if they actually record info about what he has. (someone who has a C&R FFL, and has gone through an inspection could answer this)

What do you mean by "Know exactly what to use against you"? Do you really think the Feds would go through a different plan of attack for each person if they ever decided to confiscate our guns? A mass confiscation would be extremely difficult, if not impossible as it is.

Same thing happened to me. Then when I finally did get it, they screwed up my address by one wrong digit. Took even longer for them to fix that.

Mine says that a fax or scanned image of the license with a signature that is intended to be an original is acceptable

I am paraphrasing but that is the intent
