I was told by a gun dealer in Calif. that I had to pay $25.00 and take a test or have a handgun safety certificate in order to purchase a gun. I also have to pay $25.00 for the background check. (Form 4473). Plus I can only buy one handgun a month. After Jan 1 2014 I can only buy 1 long gun a month. All with separate $25.00 background check fees.

Your handgun safety certificate or whatever they call it is good for 5 years though

You also don't need it if you're active duty military.

Yup. All true. Or you could just go downtown and buy a gun off the street corner like every respectable criminal does. California laws do not apply to them.

Very true. Some would say, myself included, that Kali laws are designed to protect criminals.

Yeah, these stringent laws sure keep guns out of the hands of the criminals, don't they? But as we all know that is not what these laws are about, they're about making it as difficult as possible for LAW ABIDING CITIZENS to obtain guns.
