Has anyone chronoed these rounds through that revolver or one with similar barrel length? What fps?

I have in the past,180gr wchc loads and found they were 1486 fps average out of a 8" barrel DW revolver and thats around 105 fps more than there advertized 5" rateing. Barrel to barrel FPS can be diffent even from the same company so I was good with the rateing and results. Also look at Double Tap. I have there ammo now and it also test very well at least for the heavy 357 and mid weight 44mags. DT uses mainly nosler bullets. Not sure anymore with BB .

    What caliber and loads

You ask for FPS from Ruger SP101 but you do not say if you are refering to their .38Spl standard pressure low flash 125 grain JHP loads for snub nosed revolvers which run about 900 fps, or their .357 Mag loadings.158 Grain JHP rated at about 1400 fps from a 3 inch barrel. When a gun fires, the powder is not burned instantaneously. It continues to burn as long as the bullet is traveling down the barrel, and the longer it burns, the more pressure it develops. More pressure means greater muzzle velocity for the bullet. Greater velocity means better hollowpoint performance and terminal ballistics. Therefore, rest assured that FPS drops drastically in a snub. You do have an advantage buying from Buffalo Bore, they give chronographed speeds for their various caliber/bullet combinations with barrel length listings, and the guns they used to check FPS.

Fired 180 grain in my 6 inch GP100, nice little kick! The wife on the other hand was not pleased when she fired just 1 round.

I bet! I believe BB chambers their rounds at the original .357 specs. I think they dropped the pressure a tad when forcing cones showed premature wear.

I had to use an allen wrench to push the spent cases out. Since 1 box of 25 was about $28.00, I only fire once in a blue moon. I prefer the standard wad-cutters .38 Special 158 grain ammo.
