i bought my first handgun. it is a smight and wesson sigma 9mm with the 16 rd clip.

i think i got a pretty good deal on it. A guy i work with bought it new about 6 months ago for around $340 and never fired it. He sold it to me for $250 with an extra clip

Sigma is a pretty good little pistol. You might want to take it out and try getting used to the trigger. They are a good bit heavier than most others of it's type. They do get better over time though. The best thing you can do is practice with it. You can dry firew those without trouble (according to the manual) but a snap cap is pretty cheap and you know then it wont hurt it. I used to use a spot on a wall nad practice keeping it seady as I slowly squeezed the trigger. That is a pretty good way to practice with any weapon but with the 12# trigger in a Sigma it seemed to help a lot more.:)

A S&W Sigma, sounds like a great pistol. I may have to get myself one of those.:D

    What's the extra clip for?

Congratulations. Now, standby for all kinds of crap for calling a "magazine" a "clip"...;)

A mag is a mag, a clip is a clip. The Garand uses a clip "en bloc", while most pistols (not revolvers (using the term as per ATF FM 4473)) use a magazine. (Now watch me catch it for describing a semi-auto as a pistol and the revolver not)

Congrats on the purchasce! I have had a sigma in .40 cal for about 2 years now and love it! never had a probloem with it and its decently accurate too, many dont like the trigger but I acctually do like it, its good knowing it takes a little pull to get the thing to go bang, its peace of mind for me when I carry it. Enjoy the pistol and please post pics and range report!:D

as soon as i get some pics ill post them.

i took it out to our field and put about 50 rounds through it. its a little too early to say but i dont think i will have any problems out of it. as far as firing, im not an expert but i really liked it. my mom even got out there and enjoyed it and she hates guns (for some unknown reason)

What's funny is everyone knew exactly what he meant, but we still had to give him a hard time. Welcome to FTF! We treat eachother like family, purely disfunctional. :D

    Congratulations!

A first gun is like a first lover, now that your feet are wet, you can experiment and compare. I had a Sigma and so did my Dad. (My stepmom now has it). It is a good inexpensive/introductory piece. Now that you've taken the bait, prepare to be broke satisfying your 'gun lust'.
    Welcome to the group.

    Congrats

    Congrats on the new acquisition.

I now hava grocery list of "Gun-Lusts" as long as both my arms.

I had 2 Sigmas in 9MM but traded on for a EAA Windicator .357 Mag, the other now has 5 16 round mags.

    Congrats on the purchase.

A $250 Sigma9 is about as practical as it gets when it comes to an initial firearm purchase. You'll get your money's worth and then some out of it.
