I just ordered this online as a summer carry vs my Glock 26... Tell me you all love this gun???
It's a great gun. It is one of my two carry guns along with a Kahr PM9. I carry the S&W when I'm wearing pants with smaller pockets.
I like the built in laser.
I bought mine in April...it's my carry gun. Hardest part is finding .380 right now...but it's starting to loosen up.
Whew... Thank you all
Sounds like you bought it without knowing anything about it. But since it's a S&W, you at least took a calculated risk. TRigger pull is heavy, as it should be on a pocket pistol, but it resets quickly and with a bit of practice, practice, practice it is just fine to shoot. The iron sights are very good as well for a small gun.
Add me to the list of BG 380 fans. Haven't shot mine much in the 2 weeks I've had it but I really like a lot of things about this gun. Feels good in the hand and the craftsmanship is top-drawer. I love nicely machined equipment and the BG 380 is definitely that.
Better yet, the sights are replaceable. I swapped mine out for a set of XS Big Dot sights.
Thank you all, actually I have done a ton of research before buying this gun. It's just I saw so many mixed reviews that it had me worried
And probably the #1 complaint is the trigger. It's a pocket gun. It's supposed to have a long heavy trigger.
I've had my Bodyguard .380 for about a month. I've only fired a couple of magazines thru it, but it shoots straight enough out to 15 yds to dependably hit a perp in the chest.
The built-in laser is OK, but I don't expect to use it unless I have to face a bad -guy in the dark. The salesman told me something that I hope is not correct, though. I asked him about durability, and he said it would only take 500 to 1,000 shots to wear it out. Does anybody have any info on this?
I've got nothing for info on the life of the gun but I highly doubt it is that short and parts can always be replaced.
As far as the trigger goes I can tell you I have insider information and a trigger kit is on the way. The remanufactured trigger bars are nearing completion. Length of pull, reset and weight will all be fixed. I personally can't wait.
Just for giggles. Here's mine.
Where did you buy this gun? Clearly this saleman has a problem with S&W.
Remember that S&W has a LIFETIME warranty on their guns. Was this a gun shop or a big box store? Other guns from other mfg. may provide a bigger markup for the store while S&W does not. Did you ask for this advice? Was he pointing you towards another gun?
It was a local sporting goods store, where the prices are high, and the personnel has a complete turnover about every 3 months. That's why I was hoping somebody on the forum had some better info. Thanks.
The BG380 was called the Cadillac of micro 380s by Gun Tests magazine, which is the Consumers Report of the firearms industry. After owning several other 380s I have to concur that the S&W is the best one.
Load it with some really good ammunition like Corbon DPX or Gold Dots and you have a viable self defense pistol.
That's exactly what I thought. A salesman that knows nothing about guns, just about collecting his paycheck. A little word of advice, do all of your research at REAL gun shops or online. Where you buy it isn't that important, but forget any advice at the major retailers.
I love this forum! I have bought my last two guns and accessories based on advice from this form. I value it and thx!!!
Picking mine up tomorrow! Can't wait, thank God I found ammo, also waiting on my holster to arive, I think I'm gonna love it, has a couple of nice features that my Ruger LCP doesn't have, mainly a take down leaver, wish me luck!
Good luck! Now, which holster are you getting? I have a DeSantis Sof Tuck, a Fobus paddle and a simple pocket holster. I may shoulder it inthe winter months, or get a belly band........still not sure.
I bought a Glocktech MIC for it. I use one for my Glock 26 and love it
