I appreciate that brother - and I intend of giving a long winded response later, but I am at work at the moment and actually expected to DO SOMETHING other than talk guns and moderate this wonderful forum.

I will look forward to this. I am, as we speak involved in a Howa actioned 30-338. Ignorant choice probably, but I had the action, and the unchambered barrell. 4 to 16 Nikon scope, so Sh&t happens. Local smith wanted to try it, (he is talented) I just have no idea for a stock. Open to suggestions, No thread hi-jack intended here. My apoligies Solid-Snake.

The Howa is a HELL of a good action and that 30-338 cartridge is NO JOKE. I built one for myself, actually Brett built most of it. Just had the thing finished and had a guy come into the shop looking for a 30-338 to take big game hunting. Bought it right out from under me for about $800 more than I had into it. I have been meaning to build another one, but haven't got around to it yet.

I have some reloading gear, and some PREMIUM Lapua brass for it if you are interested. I will make you a hell of a good deal.

For a stock? Bell and Carlson are turning very affordable stocks for the Howa right now. I like their stuff, good quality and excellent company to deal with.

Wild Dog Stocks out of Australia is also turning out some great stocks, but they are pretty pricey, import taxes and all.

H-S Precision has some bad press because they are endorsed by Lon Haruchi, but I have one of their stocks and it's a great piece of kit.

Get some pictures up of this build. It's definitely thread worthy...

Dude stop messin with that old cartridgte. I would go for the 338 edge. 338 lapua performance in cheaper action. Your HOWA would handle it.

By the way the 338 Edge is a 300 RUM necked up to 338 and the shoulder gets blown out a little. Buddy of mine built one and it is printing in the .2" 5 shot groups at 100 yards.
