I got a pair of black powder .44s from my godfather years ago. I'm not really into Blackpowder anymore and was thinking about the cartridge conversions. Anyone have any experience.

I know I am going to hear ' just go buy a new cartridge gun' thank you, I will; next month ;)

Now back to these old gals. Actually I am pretty sure they are replicas but I like them and am interested in this conversion.

Any takers? Distributor? Legalities? Please and thank you

    I'll post pics shortly

Can they be converted to cartridge arms? Yes. However, it will not be a 44 Magnum- the conversions generally use a lowered powered catridge. Safely? Well, you did not bother to share with us WHAT the revolver IS that you are considering for conversion. :p Closed frame more durable than open frame. Legal? Last time I looked, yes- your state laws may vary.

Pietta. I understand it would only shoot low charge cowboy's right? That's fine. I am just tired of black powder but enjoy shooting these two. One is a pietta ( the pretty one ) the other says ASM But I am assuming that one won't do cause of the frame design?

    Dont do it!!!!

I know you want to get these two guns to shot regular shell from them but as beuatiful as the one on the left is and the one on the right i would just have boxes made and hang them. and always have a gunsmith check them to make sure they aren't replica's i ahd a friend who was going to do this and when he took them to the gunsmith he informed him he would do anything because they were the collector guns and wnated in high demand i don't know if those two are but you never know. Maynard:)
