    Percussion Caps -
1851 Navy .36 Caliber Black Powder Revolver
1851 Navy .44 Caliber Black Powder Revolver

Is there a physical size difference between #10 and # 11 caps?
Are the nipples a standard size for most 44 or 36 cal. black powder revolvers?
I picked up a fresh tin of #10 cci caps and they fit on the 36 but not the 44
I cannot detect a size difference of the nipples, even with my glasses.
Some go on real smooth and seat proper and some will not seat enough to allow the cylinder to rotate.

    Thanks
    Joe

Joe, I believe that number 11 caps are the standard and if it calls for number 11 caps you gots to use number 11 caps. I could be wrong, I've been wrong before.

    Good luck, HJ

I ripped off this info from a different forum -

Personally, I would rather have a cap which is slightly too big, than slightly too small... you can always pinch the cap's skirts out-of-round to make it grip the nipple.

They are different sizes as clearly shown above. My percussion pistols both use the #10's. My percussion rifles like the #11's. YMMV.

I picked up a couple tins of # 11 caps and they work so much better.
Thank you all for your replies.
