On the recommendation of several here, and my budget, I went the Vortex route. Found one on sale $149. A couple of observations:
    - lens caps. They drive me nuts. I will say this the wiggling and torquing needed to work with these things sure puts the mount and the scope to the test! Think they get better with age
    - 2x magnifier is supposedly no good? I call BS on that, look at the target on the left vs the right (without magnifier). That is 50 yards ten shot groups, 1 shot every second. Looks like it makes a difference although don't think I'd leave it on the scope
    - I purposely pushed and pulled on this scope in between range trips, used it as a handle a couple of times etc to see if it held zero. Completely held zero.

Very impressed seems like one of the better values out there

(Bottom target is the one on the left enlarged. Used independence 5.56 55 grain)

i mounted mine up on my 458 winmag winchester mod 70 and sent about 100 rounds of 525grainers at 2100fps down range. held zero from begining to end.

this rifle has destroyed several higher end leupold scopes...

I've heard nothing but good things about the Strikefire! Happy you like it and love your AR! More porn plz...

Hey have you used the doubler at longer ranges? Like 200+ yards? Just about any glass will be good for 50 yards..... does it change the point of aim any, or require a more consisitent check weld?

It hits an 8" metal plate at 200 meters (5/5) I am sure it would group well with a scope the dot pretty much covers up the circle of the target at that distance though

Was thinking about a Strikefire for my CMMG .22 upper. Can you do a lower 1/3 co witness with the irons ?

I like my Vortex like wise and have mine on a SWMP.

As to the Vortex strikefire lens caps, I found that in closing the caps, if you push hard on the very center of the cap, it will snap shut and stay shut.

I too got a Strykfire a few months back after the recs I saw on this board. I absolutely love it. I got mine for about 85. It holds zero flawlessly. I have sent hundreds of rounds downfield and have not have to make adjustments. I dont know what people are talking about when they say the doubler is junk. Mine works flawlessly. Just as accurate than without. I can hit the plate at 200 as well. If you put the luminosity of the dot at the lowest setting it doesnt cover the site so bad. It does everything I would ever want to do with this rifle. One day I will get a more high end rifle I will build for precision shooting and splurge on a more expensive scope to reach out further but for now the Vortex is all I need. I dont have any place to shoot past 100 yds close enough anyway.

Yeah on the front one especially I discovered the same thing

Still, I think it's stupid, Vortex clearly knows about this and it should be a simple (slightly larger diameter) fix.........

Well don't let somebody take too much of your money for 'high end'.....the Vortex is an example of not needing to pay for BS you don't need (such as fancy brand names). I can't believe the money people spend (and some still can't shoot for sh*t )

Vortex Strikefire is not a good product for the money. It's a great one!

I've owned a couple and worked them hard with zero complaints. None on my current rifles, only because I prefer the uber-lightweight Vortex Sparc (Aimpoint Micro copy).

I just gave my dad a new BCM midlength build for his 60th BDay...topped off with a Vortex Strikefire. The red/green dot options can also be more accomodating to aging eyes, LOL.
