Is there a way to do it without a can opener?
You could try:
a chisel and a hammer
a sharp bayonet
a die grinder
a skil saw
a band saw
a hack saw
a half stick of dynamite
a 1/4 oz of c4
a water jet
a laser cnc
a plasma torch
a cordless drill and a hack saw
an elephants foot
dropping it from an airplane
dropping it off a cliff
beating it with a fish whacker
beating it with a baseball bat
a crowbar and hammer
a screwdriver and a hammer
Or a can opener. Maybe a Spam opener.
So it does have to be cut open? Damn
use a dremel with a cut off wheel.
I have a can opener made by Mossberg.
If all else fails:
Lots of them on ebay:
How else are you going to get into the can without cutting it open.
I have a can opener that cuts the seam holding the lid to the can and does not leave a sharp edge. You can literally put the lid back on and it doesn't even look opened. Maybe you can use one of those. These can openers are very common, cheap and easy to find. Like this.
This is the brand I have and I expect it to last a lifetime.
We have one too!! In fact, probably one of just about product they've ever sold. I personally like the Microwave Chip Maker (helps to have the Simple Silcer) the best.
I used a screw driver to pry the beginning up to get it started, then took some long nosed vice grips thingy and rolled it open half way, then bent the lid up to dump out the 7.62x49 the rest of the way.
I have never tried that. But it won't open the spam can.
I get the impression he wants to save the can and not mutilate it. Hence my suggestion he open it with a seamless can opener.
I just use the can opener that was made for them. Works fine for me.
Well I don't have a can opener that will work. I've hammered at it for half an hour with a hammer and screwdriver. I've cut at the seam with three knives and tried to cut the top open. Can't get it.
If you do not want to buy one of the original openers, use a cold chisel.
I still have my P-38 "fog" the US ARMY can opener given to me 56 years ago, still hanging with my dog tags.
I love how the military makes everything sound like a weapons system. Ya, I flew a P-51 against them Nazis..... You got a pic of this Army relic Hank?
I have a camera but no knowledge of posting a picture, thank GOD for google.
Well congratulations soldier...you're dead. You and your entire company...cause you couldn't get into your ammo can.
c'mon man! grow some ingenuity!
sharp steel+force or leverage= boom boom goodness
