I have a 10/22 & a springfield 187r & a winchester wildcat. The wildcat is less than accurate compared to the two autoloaders. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced, acurate bolt action?
    thanks,
    bob

I personally am partial to the Savages. Good accuracy and well priced.

That being said, CZ makes a beautiful bolt action gun but is a bit more money and probably no more accurate than a Savage.

Heavy barreled Savage 93. With the right ammo, will make 5 shot one hole groups at 50 yards.

My son is very fond of his CZ 452 Scout, and if the full size 452/455s are as good as this little carbine, I'll definately look into getting one soon. The 455 can switch from 22 to .17 with a simple barrel change.

My Savage Mark II shots dime size groups at 50 yrds.....using Wolf ammo
Can't beat a Savage for accuracy...

I had a Savage 93-17. It was a real tack driver, and was far more accurate than I could see. I couldn't even make out the target in the scope, and it would still put round after round in a tight group.

I'll regret giving up that rifle one day.

I purchased a CZ453 (set trigger and standard) late last year and it is the most accurate 22lr I have shot. Tight groups, reliable and repeatable results. My first CZ and I am very impressed.

    What is a reasonable price?

Is a $250 Savage reasonable or a $300-$400 CZ resonable? Or is a $1900 Cooper reasonable?

Reasonable is a rather ambiguous term.

You need to stop making sense!
I have an old JC Higgins, same as a Marlin 100 I beleive. I use to shoot crows out of trees at 100+ yards. Middle rifle. Less then $75.00 at shops now. My dad paid $25.00 for it in 1972 at a flee market.

Yep what he said... I think CZ is probably the most bang for the buck when it comes to quality. Savage and Marlin do make some nice shooting guns for less money but you can really tell the difference in manufacturing when you hold them side by side.

The Ruger 77/22 is a very well made rifle but they do not tend to be very accurate guns from the examples I've owned. I cured the last one by putting a Shillen barrel on it and it's a tackdriver now but that is a $250 upgrade to a gun that is not cheap to start with.

Some of the most accurate .22 bolt guns I own are old (1950's) Mossbergs but the prices on those are starting to really creep up.

take the wildcat in and have it looked at. That's an extremily acurate .22. Especially compared to your auto loaders. It should produce 1/2 inch groups at 50 yds right out of the box.
