In your guys opinion...what is the BEST .223 to buy.

I've got everything else lined up and now I need to store ammo. I want to get at least 1000 Rounds by the end of 2009 stored up in my Attic for safe keeping and also to maybe shoot and have enough for a long long time....shoot 200 a month...buy a new bunch..etc. etc. then buy a reloading machine and mess with that and figure out how to do that.

I'm also looking for the best 7.62 Ammo for my SKS....I might just get a bunch of wolf since that stuff runs pretty well in my gun.

So I'm thinking 1000 Rounds of .223 and then 1000 Rounds of possibly Military Classic 7.62....200 of each will most likely be hollow point or if you could suggest a good specialty round I'll get those.

It depends on what you're shooing the .223 through. The SKS will probably be happy with whatever you run, but some .223 rifles are very picky.

I prefer brass cased ammo in general and run Federal XM193 55gr. FMJ. The exception to my brass case rule is Blazer aluminum cased handgun ammo.

All of these run fine through my Bushmaster. I do have some 45gr HP's....mainly for coyotes. Nothing wrong with the FMJ's for defensive purposes (outside the home of course).

Cabelas sells several different types of bulk 223 ammo for decent prices and you can order it online. FMJ,Soft point, and Vmax.

I would think twice about storing ammo in your attic. Temp varries by large degrees up there. also if you live in an area that has high humidity as your attic will be open to outside air with the ridge vent and sofet vents.

Finding a back corner of a closet and storing it all in there would be a better place.

    It's not that simple.

First, define what you mean by "BEST". Most accurate for competion or lowest price for lots of plinking? Highest velocity? Best cases to reload later? Or...?

And, what will it be fired in, auto or bolt?

Keep the ammo out of the attic! My rancher gets to 140 in the attic, even with a light colored roof and an attic fan. High temps cause early failure of powder and primers. Cool and dry- yeah, that's the ticket!

I was kidding about the attic. It was an expression. And by best I mean...for self defense and SHTF. Want non-corrosive and the such.
