Used Ruger SP101 would get my vote. If you can save up $1-200 more you open a whole bunch of choices.

I bought my 4in Gp100 for $600 and that is my favorite handgun. I would save up a little bit and buy that. If its a carry weapon the Gp100 gets a little heavy but it makes for a perfect range gun. Ive gotta have 2000+ rounds through mine with no problems. Ive owned it for less than a year and its defenitly a great handgun.

    Needs 6 rounds. SP101 is only 5.

I'm guessing Taurus. Just be careful that the cylinder is drilled correctly.

I paid $300 for an Old Model Ruger Blackhawk last year. I was at my LGS buying something else, saw it and had to have it.

It was made in 1970 and has not had the transfer bar conversion. It is a six shooter. Like any older single action revolver should only be carried with the hammer resting on an empty chamber.

EAA Windicator is a great gun. I had the 2 inch. The EAA Bounty Hunter would fill your needs as well. The Bounty Hunter is a Copy of the old Colt Single Action Army. The Windicator is a modern double action 6 shot.

I picked up a Ruger GP100 for $400, new but shopworn (slight turn ring). I would look for a used GP100.

I bought a 2" .357 EAA windicator for $291 otd 3 months ago. Got it for the wife to use at bedside with 38+p. And also fun magnum shooting.

Wanted a 4" but now that I have it am glad for the 2" as it's easier in and out of bedside safe.

Heavy but makes for easy shooting. No where near as long if a d/a pull as the Taurus 85 it replaced and much more comfortable.

Save a few more dollars and buy a gp 100 ruler. It is by far the best and strongest 357 on the market. Chech out buds gunship.com for a great price on it.

    A used Ruger Security Six.
They can be found for $400 if your'e not in a hurry.
I almost sold my 2 1/2" ss Security six for $400 last week, but the guy backed out. He has no idea what quality revolvers are worth. He can buy a new C.A. for about the same. ;)

IMO the best buy on the market right now is the Six series.
I purchased all of these within the last year: $295, $329, $350
The Six series is tough as nails and still very portable.
