I need your opinions on the best and most reliable .22 LR pistol for fun and practice. Accuracy also if possible. Its mostly for my wife to get used to shooting, but for both of us to have a good time. From what I've read many of you like the Ruger SR22, but I'm interested to here other thoughts. Thanks

Browning Buckmark for an out of the box River mk2 if you like to mod the gun.
Hi Standard if not a Texas made gun is another good choice

Depends on your budget. I think the "best" is going to cost far more than I am willing to pay.

    For $400 or less?

    Ruger SR22
    Beretta U22 Neos
    Ruger Mk.III
    Ruger 22/45
    Browning Buckmark
    GSG 1911

Personal experience with the Neos. Great gun. All the others review well and when I was researching and asking around consistently had great things said about them. I'd put my own money down on any of them.

I feel like I should have some revolvers on that list, but I wasn't really researching them at the time.

I've had good experiences and bad and those that I've tried are known for having iffy qc. If I can make one recommendation on a 22lr semiautomatic it would be to spend more than 300. If I had it to do all over or the funds to spare I'd be going the Ruger route, specifically the 22/45 lite.

I have a buck mark target pistol and a Walther P22. The buck mark is more accurate but the P22 has been flawless fun. I have run CCI, Remmington and Federal ammo through it with very few malfunctions. Maybe 5 out of 500+ rounds.

What's better, a convertible sport car or a dually pickup truck???

What's the best .22 is a question that can't be answered.

If you want a general purpose plinking and trail gun, light weight, double action etc, something like the SIG Mosquito, Ruger SR22, S&W .22/32 kit gun etc would fill the bill.

If you want a gun strictly for the range, a Buckmark or Ruger target model would be hard to best.

What you will use it for will determine which one is best.
