I've decided that the next gun I want to add to my growing collection is a 1911. I can afford something in the roughly range of roughly 800-1000 dollars. The gun will be primarily for range use, but may be used for home protection as well (assuming I like it better than my 9mm XDM). It will not be a carry gun. What would you recommend?

I have a colt 1911, and I have a taraus 1911. I want a ruger 1911. I hear great things about the ruger, and its around $700. That would leave some money for lots of ammo for fun with your new pistol.

The CCO is the same receiver (grip) size as the Defender but with a 4.25" Barrel vs the 3".

Is $800-1000 your TOTAL budget, or just for the gun? Don't forget the break-in ammo and some extras like Tripp magazines and a holster! All of that could easily get to $200 or more.

I think that is what draws me to it the most. Im a big fan of "officer" grips with the "full" barrel.

For 800-1000 budget, I'd say grab a Springfield armory loaded model 1911. VERY well made and cool options. Also less than 1000

Hey bro, I got a Colt 1991 just like the one Cane showed you. It is a great 1911 for a little over $800. It has NEVER failed in any way. Good for carry if you ever needed to plus you will have some money left over for ammo and a holster. Have a good day, Ed
