I went to the range yesterday afternoon with my Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm and decided to shoot 100 rounds on B27Q-RED half-size targets at 25ft. I didn't score myself or anything, just fired away until it was hard to see where I hit, then replaced the target with a new one. I fired 34 rounds (2 clips) on each target except for that last target since I ran out of rounds.

    #1: Clip 1-2, 25ft

I did fairly well on target #1, getting a very tight grouping for about half of the shots as you can see on the target above. I have been working on my low-right hits, and I got a tip from a guy that I shouldn't use too much of my trigger finger, and that helped!

    #2: Clip 4-3, 25ft

Trying to get my aim to center didn't go so well on this target, so I got some stragglers all around the target. Still working out the kinks.

    #3: Clip 5-6, 25ft, rapid fire

Tired of aiming. Started blasting away as soon as the sight bounced into place. Great fun, and the results aren't too, too bad. Emptied the last two clips into the target in very short succession. He should be fairly dead.

Looks like three dead BG's! Nice shooting only exceeded by the fun!

Is the PX4 your carry piece? If so, did you do any draw shots?

I don't carry a piece, I am Swedish, so I can't get a concealed carry permit until I naturalize. And the range I go to do not allow draw shots. Also, I am a civilian. :D

Thanks! I try constantly to improve myself. I think I've worked a few of the kinks out of my shooting, still a few more to go, then for some combat courses and more practice and maybe do a few competitions just for kicks.

since you were shooting half size targets and every shot looks like it could be potentially fatal, i guess you're covered if you ever get attacked by a midget bad guy :D

    just kiddin...nice shooting....

I'd say you killed the bad guy. Even with the "snap shooting" you were still on target at center mass. Those hits would make any perp think twice about messing around with you.

How do you like the PX4 Storm? It seems there are a few of us who have recently been out on the range with them...

And your post reminds me that I need to get to the range to practice on the B-27 targets. Those are used in the Corporate Challenge shooting matches and I just got 100 from Midway USA.

    A target shooting Caneism:

"Do NOT stew about tight groups! I believe in multiple traumas to multiple systems. More holes in = more blood out! Lower the blood pressure and you stop the threat!"

Hey, here in America everybody is a midget compared to me. ;) Fortunately I am not as wide as I am tall, I'd make one helluva target if I was, right? :D

I do love the PX4. Since I got this as my first sidearm I have shot a few other guns, but this is by far my favorite so far.

I am thinking about getting a compact for when I naturalize (then I can get my concealed carry) and I held a whole bunch of guns, and the ones that stuck out to me were the Springfield XD Compact and the Smith & Wesson M&P Compact, both in 9mm. I think I am going to buy the S&W since it is completely ambidextrous. Being a leftie can sometimes be a bit cumbersome, especially with the slide lock.

As far as deadness goes, I wonder how I'll do in a pressured situation. There's only one way to find out: take some combat courses and compete. Getting my heart rate up there and then trying to shoot will prove if I will survive or not.

That's an awesome philosophy. I think my amendment to that will be: "Sorry officer, I shot three shots in short succession, the headshot was just a miss! Honestly!"
