I just saw the Pico on Beretta's website. It looks quite nice. Very similar to the Nano, but in .380acp, a bit thinner and lighter and the caliber is changeable with .32 ACP. I don't see much elsewhere on the interwebs about it.

Looks to be the competition for the lc380 from ruger.

Lcp or bersa thunders are still my 380's of choice.

With beretta's disaster of a nano i dont think im going to try a pico anytime soon.

JonM I own a Nano and its quite a good pistol. How is it a disaster in your opinion? Just curious. Personally I didn't spend a dime on it, believe it or not I won it in the FTF giveaway this past December. But I have not had any problems with it other than 1 FTE with cheap 115 grain. Other than that it shoots any 124 grain ammo I feed it, it conceals very well and aims very naturally. I can even state that the trigger is great as well.

My thought on the Pico being a nice option is based on my experience with Beretta products, I also own an 84fs for more than 20 years and that has had zero issues in my hands in all that time. And given that it can swap calibers with .32 ACP as well.

they fixed the nano issue and are decent guns now. when they were introduced they had some serious first production run issues ranging from failed to feed to fail to eject.

my point is i just dont want to be first beta tester for beratta's new role outs heh. ive done way more than my share of paying for a new thing and finding out there are teething issues... its one reason why ive had a love hate affair for decades with the 92fs

Oh hell yeah! 1st run of anything these days is what I call "retail beta testing". I feel that it is similar to the Nano platform so I might think that it would work well from its onset. But who knows.
I guess I'm wondering what the FTF thinks of the design, its flexibility and pricing.

It appears thinner to me. But it sure looks taller to me.

Well I have to agree that I'll wait and see on any new item. But that said I have a first run Nano, serial number 0011xx and she is just fine. No issues. She even fires the dreaded Winchester white box 115 grn ammo. And she has never been sent back for any fixes. Did she need to be broken in? Yah, I had 8 FTE's in the first couple of hundred rounds, but that was with cheap range ammo. Will I wait on a Pico? Yup but its not because of the Nano.

Looks pretty good! I would revisit it come January/February 2014 or so.

Beretta had so many NANOs returned because of the FTE problem, they weren't going to make the same mistake twice. I predict the PICO will be the pistol the NANO should have been. I was a huge fan of the NANO and was confident to the point I carried mine all last summer. I had 1K troublefree rounds through it before the FTEs started occurring. That is a hard to clear malfunction on the range, if one occurs on the street it could get you hurt or worse. Beretta wisely chose to add an external slide lock to the PICO and I wouldn't be surprised if Beretta comes out with a NANO II with one as well.
