    Hi,
I am looking at a Beretta 87 as my first .22 range gun.
Has anyone had much experience with this model?
Its relatively expensive compared to Target .22's from Ruger and S&W.
    Is it worth the price?

They are neat guns nice looking shoot decently but the ruger mk3 beats it in every category.

Just the sheer amount of available parts for customization is staggering. Pretty much everything you could desire in a 22 handgun you can configure a. Mk3 to do

If you want to just shoot, choose the Ruger. If you ( like me ) love the looks of the Beretta's , then buy the Beretta. I'm a little bit of a Beretta collector with 5 70-series .22 pistols . They shoot just fine, but I didn't buy them for THAT . They are sexy Italian beauties. :)

Or get the Beretta Neos at one third the price and put the savings into ammo.

Definitely buy any Beretta Neos you can find at $100 a pop.

The Beretta 87's are going out of sight on price. You have to ask yourself just WHY do you want a particular pistol. Do you want to shoot it a lot ? Do you need a target pistol or a plinker ? Do you want a safe queen that you can take out and admire ? Do you want a piece of history ? Lots of choices , depending upon YOUR desires. Personally, I enjoy collecting and shooting the Beretta Model 71 and 74. They're very reliable, with a little bit of Mossad history behind them. The ones currently being sold with faux-suppressors are Israeli surplus. My favorite target shooter was a Ruger MkII . The Beretta 71's are listed at Century as low as $279 . They are fine , fun pistols, but NOT target guns with that short barrel.

I absolutely love my Model 87,,,

I absolutely love my Model 87,,,
I bought it new about two years ago,,,
It was expensive at $600.00 but I had to have it.

    Now, having said that,,,
My U22 NEOS's are easier to hit with,,,
My Ruger 22/45's are also easier to hit with.

Same with my Ruger SR-22 and Bersa Thunder 22,,,
The Beretta 87 is no better a gun than either of these lesser expensive guns.

    However,,,
I love the feel of the gun,,,
When I pick it up to fond, eerrr, handle,,,
It always puts a huge smile on my big ugly mug. :D

The quality of the gun can not be contested,,,
It's absolutely the Cadillac of rimfire semi-auto's,,,
What other gun makes you want to put on a tuxedo?

    If you want it,,,
    And you can afford it,,,
You should get a Model 87 now,,,
They aren't importing any more of them,,,
And the price is only going to get higher and higher.
