Recently acquired a semi aotu handgun from my grandfather. It has "P. Beretta cal 7.55-Brevettata....GARDONE VT 1944" on the left side of the slide. Below this, on the frame there is a "S" by itself.Serial numbers on the right side are 535198 on the slide and frame. Also on the left side of the gun there is what seems to be a German eagle stamped behind the handgrip with a small circle below that.

Just curios about some history and approximate value of this handgun.

I'm betting it is a 7.65 caliber which is the European equivalent of the .32 ACP. I just bought a Tomcat this weekend and bought some 7.65 S&B (Czec) ammo to go with it. Try a Google search with 7.65 instead of 7.55.

Seems to be a WW2 Beretta 1934 model in 7.65mm (.32acp ) Two versions were issued during WW2 the 32 for the Italian Airforce, the 380acp for the army.
