OMG! Krull! Please start a movie timewarp thread!

How many of these would be as good today as when they were released? Do they stand the test of time?

So, Benning and I got to discussing the really cool, old, early 80's action movies, there is a small list below, and then it got carried away and needed it's own thread.

We are talking the stuff you loved as a kid, or a young adult, and was your first exposure to the Hero Syndrome, or wanting to be in Special Forces.

Discuss your early favorites! Do they still rank up there for you?

Man, tons of movies come to mind. In HS, a group of us would go en horde to movies like those. I have many of them on VHS from HBO. I will watch them when they come on some of the satellite channels.

    These come to mind.

    First Blood series

    The Hitcher

    Cobra

    Anything with Chuck Norris

The Delta Force was one of the best, I still watch it every time it comes on. When he finally beats the sh1t out of the lead terrorist - it's like seeing Justice incarnate.

Whoa, it's on tonight on AMC...

How about Invasion USA?? I read that book, and then went to see the movie. God I loved that movie!

It came, if I recall, right about the time that idiot Khadafi was making all sorts of noise about sending his minions to "malls in America" and creating a great uprising, so there was already some fear.

You have to remember Delta Force didn't exist at this time, as far as the public was concerned, and we had NO INTELLIGENCE ASSESTS IN THE REGION according to news reports, so it was scary.

Then comes along Chuck Norris and Rostov the Terrorist gets his ass handed to him and all was right in my little world again.... :D

God that was a great time for that movie...

I need to do a bulk order of some of these old movies for my DVD collection. Digitially remastered? How great would that be?!?

The Guns of Navarone?! Are you kidding me?

    Bridge over the River Kwai?!?

Have you been looking through my library?

If you have not seen it, Mischief. It was based on a town about 45 mins from me. Kelly Preston in what Mr Skin calls the best nude scene eva.
There's some guys I know that were extras and I can pick them out. Set in the '50s and just a funny movie. Check it out. :D

Okay, if you haven't seen it, and want to step into beyond weird:

    Never to Young to Die

John Stamos, Gene Simmons again, and Vanity.

The plot is non existent, but the scene that made everybody squirm...

Simmons is a tranny, beats the snot out of Stamos, and knocks him over the rail of a dam. He's about to finish him off, and Stamos says "Wait!"

    Simmons: "What?"

Stamos: "I just wanted to tell you how beautiful you look."

    Simmons: "Really?"

Then Simmons leans over, and out comes the legendary tongue, straight for Stamos' mouth.

Every dude in the theater was screaming "NOOOOO!"

Stamos defeats Simmons, but lost all his man points in the process.

There was nothing not good about Cannonball Run. First time Americans saw Jackie Chan, he was a martial arts god.

Good Guys Wear Black, Chuck jumping through a windshield and killing a dude.
    Doesn't get better than that.

The horror movies were innovative. Reanimator, nothing like it since.

    Critters? Fun.

Videodrome? Still trying to figure out how it could work.

    Altered States was deep.

Phantasm was deeper, and showed how a hammer, tack, tape, and a shotgun shell make a superior lockpick.:D
