This is my current bench rest setup for shooting my Remington 700 SPS TAC .223. I have a couple folding tables that I put end to end and I cover them with old towels to keep stuff from rolling off. I use a couple cinder blocks to raise the forward rest up and I use a bag rest for the butt stock. The cinder blocks also steady the tables with the extra weight. It's not the most ideal setup, but it works for now.
A few years back I bought this shooting bench, but ended up selling it to a friend after a couple years. Should have kept it.
I built a portable shooting bench several years ago. I got the table top from a plastics guy on ebay, and then installed folding saw horse legs on it.
It sets at a better height than those folding tables do,we tried to use those on a prairie dog hunt, and it really sucked. That's when I decided to build the shooting bench.
There are several DIY shooting bench plans on the internet,if you want to build one.
i have plans on upgrading my shooting bench at some point in the future to something semi-permanent, and more stable than what i have. i found some plans for a shooting bench that was made out of timbers, 2"x4" and 2"x6" lumber. the bench was mounted on 4"x6" timber skids that had large rings mounted in them to attach a cable or chain into them so it could be moved around with an ATV if it needed to be moved.

My Bench Rest is movable but is very sturdy. Had some Christmas money a few years ago and decided to build my own out of treated wood including 4X4" posts.
It is also built to be ambidextrous. Here is my Grandson shutting my Remington 40X Sniper Rifle off the bench. His eye relief was a little excessive but still shot about a 1 1/2 MOA Group at the 100 yard mark. The stock was a little long for him!
I am blessed I have most all of the family shooting and enjoying weapons.
That is always on the schedule when they come to Grandpas!
