Recently ordered a Remington 700 SPS AAC SD in .308 from my lgs. I should have it by early January. I'd like to have my scope, rings and base all ready for when it shows up. The base I chose is a Weaver 20 MOA extended rail and Burris XTR rings. Scope I'm looking at is the 3.5-10x50 vortex viper. From what I've read most of these weaver rails require bedding under the rear attachment surface. My question is for anyone that has bedded their own base before. There are a lot of instructions online that use JB Weld as the bedding compound. Has anyone tried it? Should I use something else? Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.
