Wrong. The main attitude in major cities in NY does, not the law.

in smaller cities and rural areas, most CLEOs hand out CC Permits like float riders in parades pass out candy. In my old county, most have theirs within 3 months, and there are not a lot of barring factors, to obtaining one, mostly the expense, as it is a lifetime permit. Yes, you have to update your information every 5 years, but, you still only pay for it once.

My uncle got his in 1974, dad in 1991, mom in 1992, myself in 1998, and my wife in 2005. One time payment, even for dad, who had to update in 2018. It's the mindset that LE is there tpo protect you, that causes the unarmed victims, or in the case of NYC, them being willing to issue home licenses, but almost always refuse CC ones. And in that case, you have to renew it, every three years.

In the real NY, people get trained, submit their application, get their LTC, buy a handgun, and then carry it, and they are willing to use it, if need be. Out of the people I know there, 8 out of 10 have a permit, and regularly carry.

I'm not saying the laws there are not BS, or that I support them, far from it, but the laws are not the main issue, making people not carry, as NY has a very short list of where you can't carry. Generally speaking, with a few exceptions, if you can be there legally in NY, you can do so armed.

Leaders of a synagogue in NY City planned a firearms safety course. There was bad blowback and the class was cancelled. No doubt Jews in Israel are shaking their heads in disbelief.

This article is more encouraging :
" Herzig also said there is “a lot of conversation” among congregants about how to attain a gun permit. (A Dec. 30 article in the Orthodox newspaper The Jewish Press was titled, “Experts Suggest 6 Firearms That Will Fit in Your Tallit Bag.”) On Sunday, a gunman who killed two people in a church in Texas was fatally shot by an armed member of that congregation’s volunteer security patrol.

“The change in [people’s] attitude has been slow, but apparent,” said Herzig, who said he has seen “nothing like this” in his years in Rockland County, referring to the increasing fear and vigilance among Jewish denizens."

How did it get publicized? You blare it out all over town and you will get protesters. Especially if the leftist propaganda media get hold of it. Classes and training should be put in the church or temple bulletin.
Any Jew that votes Democrat should turn in his yarmulke.

Only if he glued it on his head. It is the little skull cap they wear. On the other hand reversing circumcisions would require a plastic surgeon. Maybe they should do that too. I wonder if they saved their clippings?

Ah, OK. Never knew what they called that thing.

Those clippings? I think they make gerbil leash collars out of those?

The push back came not from outsiders, rather it came from members of the congregation. From the link:

Mark Gelberman, who, along with his wife, has been a member of the synagogue since he moved to New York from Australia in the mid-1980s, was opposed to the event and said the decision to host it at the synagogue was a case of “bad judgment.”

“The first thing I did when I saw the promotional brochure, I sent an email to the rabbi, the president, the executive director, and just said ‘really? We need this nonsense?’ And apparently a lot of other people did the same thing,” said Gelberman. “But there was so much blowback in the shul that obviously wiser heads prevailed.”

    T
    According to the same article:
FTA:...The event at Ohab Zedek was billed as a three-day course on “gun safety and security” with tickets priced at $250 and proceeds going toward the synagogue’s capital campaign. The title of the event said it would discuss, “How To Obtain A Gun License in NYC.”..."

If Mr. Gelberman was opposed to the event why didn't he just not participate?

Manta, yeah, it is a "nice line". But accurate regardless of the original quote and/or context. Another is "God made weak men and God made strong men; Colt made up the difference" (or made them "equal"). The message is the same, and it usually involves a yellow flag with a rattlesnake coiled up...

Exactly, if people who hate guns would just STFU and not buy one, that would be great. But they feel (like Mr. Gelberman) that they have to be cynical and raise a ruckus like a pompous *** to wreck it for those that do.

No doubt they are, looking at (most) American Jews. Israel has had no better friend in the WH than Donald Trump. The Nadlers and the Schumers are not even Jewish, they are atheist socialists who are Jews only by Hitler standards. Jews only because of their heritage which they in fact betray daily by teaming up with the Ilan Omars and the Tlaib woman.

So true, they will stop at nothing to deny us our rights.

    Remembering a JFK quote;
“We cannot negotiate with those who say, 'What's mine is mine, and what's yours is negotiable.”

And the real problem! Too many cater to the Windy Whiners and cave in to their stupid comments and demands. When we really need to tell them to go FO and we really do not give a dam what they think want or say!
A good example is the Civil War Monuments which is a part of American History. Or any religious comments seen like In GOD we Trust. Certainly not a symbol of present day hate! Some are doing a good job of continuing to stimulate the hate logic! You know "the Democrat Party". Who still are preaching the poor suppressed me! And how sorry I am treated in today's society. All it is, is a manipulation tool to get votes and divide people certainly not to promote unity of all Americans. They have 100% adopted the Saul Alinsky philosophy. Control, Divide and Conquer! Power, Control and Riches their only goal!;)
Hopefully most Jews are smart enough to see what is going on when they go to the Voting Booth. And to not be soft targets any longer!

Speaking of original contacts I think the quote you're looking for is "God created all men Sam Colt made them equal"

I personally believe people don't need to be armed to be polite in any country. I am not sure why you are taking the hump about that seems a reasonable view to me.o_O But your post is proving me wrong regarding being polite, do you need to be armed to be polite. ? PS No need to answer feel free to go back to being usually quiet.

Be quiet, don't think so but thanks for the suggestion. So basically you are saying you need to be armed to stand up to people OK. I can manage to do that without being armed but everyone is different. ;)

Manta, you seem to revel in being a contrarian ***. Don't you have people in your own country to be a jerk to? Or are you so "polite" you can only be a jerk to people who can't reach out to you?
