I've got a theater here that shows second runs and we just went to see Battle: Los Angeles, a movie I've been waiting for since I first saw the preview. It did not seem cheesy to me in any way, and I've got a very sensitive cheese sniffer. I've never been in the military, but as an avid reader, what I saw looked extremely plausible to me, except for the amazingly quick deployment. There's no way today, with a war on 3 fronts, could we even begin to deploy like they did in this movie. The weapons: -Seemed extremely accurate to what our forces carry (again, I've got very limited 1st-hand knowledge) and showed the limitations of carrying ammo. It is not as if every rifle had unlimited ammo. -Were not invincible. The characters: -Had a believable balance of fear and bravado. -Portrayed a very realistic picture of the tension in the command structure of a platoon. The aliens: -Were prepared and well-armed. -Had abilities that seemed very plausible (albeit foreign), but weren't supermen who could do anything. I loved it! What did y'all think?
