Can bathtubs stop pistol rounds?
Quick! Someone call Mythbusters!
I have serious doubts - I think centerfire pistol rounds WILL penetrate most tubs ( certainly the fiberglas type ).
We need the Mythbusters to do a segment on this.
Strange question. Planning for some attacks?
This lady needs to know right now!
I must admit that question is a first.
Fiberglass - yes, porcelain - probably, old fashioned cast iron - ??? What kind of ammo are we talking?
Fiberglass, of course. Cast Iron, not likely. Porcelain, doubt it. They are actually porcelain coated cast iron.
Name that movie!
Mythbusters ?? have you ever watch these clowns ?
there inapt understanding /use & poor understanding of how a firearm truely works or what it is able to do?
with a little training thay would be compent fire arm users
& not a danger to them selfs & the public
Hmmmm sounds like a trip to a local scrap yard where the owner lets me shoot is in order. Lets put together a list of calibers to test.
:note all rounds will be FMJ
4.) .357 mag
Thats all the pistol calibers I have, but I will do rifle rounds as well.
5.) and last but not least 300 WSM
Don't know about bullet penetration of cast iron, but I do know I would be pleasantly surprised to find Minnie Driver hiding in my tub, with or without the pistol.
The movie in question was "Gross Pointe Blank"
I don't think ANY tub will stop a center fire rifle round. I suspect almost all of the pistol rounds will penetrate most tubs as well.
plan on doing some underwater shooting?from what i hear it is dangerous if not done correctly.
How can a fiberglass tub stop a bullet? They are pretty thin. I don't think any tube will stop something the size of 9mm or bigger. The old Cast Iron clawfoot tubs probably stand the best chance of deflecting a bullet or at least absorbing enough to where they would penetrate very deep. I do know for a fact a toilet will not stop a bullet, and creates a whole lot of shrapnel in the way of tiny bits of sharp ceramic. That was with a .45 though, it was fun
However, they can spell and communicate effectively using the English language.
LOL Good one. I'd sure try and talk her into dropping that gun!
I don't think most common self defense calibers would penetrate a cast iron tub. Even FMJ. It would be interesting to find out though.
One of the Mythbusters was Special Forces qualified. He has had weapons training although it may not have been his speciallty.
YouTube has Everything!!
Cool video but was that cast iron or sheet metal? I looked pretty thin to me.
The movie with Minnie Driver
was "Grosse Point Blank", improbably silly, yet very satisfying for all the Hollywood-style impossible gunplay!
