Would you buy a barreled receiver with a bad barrel? I assume that receiver is immortal compared to the barrel. Good idea for picking up a spare receiver, just toss the barrel?

Personally, I wouldn't have any problems picking up a good quality receiver with a worn out or damaged barrel, but my situation is a little unique.

We take in receiver's all the time to build weapon platforms on. It's nothing to strip off a used, or new for that matter, factory barrel and set about blue printing the action for a build.

What kind of action are you looking at? If it's a quality piece, and you can get a good price, it's not uncommon at all for people to be selling it as a whole unit, including a used, or used up, barrel and stock.

If it's quality, you can always make something of it. But, if it's a POS to start with, well, garbage in, garbage out..... Unless you are willing to throw a bunch of cash at it to make it shoot.

I would if it were a good find. Barrels are a dime a dozen so burn them up.
