If I wanted to create my own barrel, would it be more advantageous to go with a lighter material or a heavier material for it? How does the barrel weight affect the shooting? Thanks

What sort of machining experience and equipment do you have? It isn't as easy as you might think.

I'm assuming that you will be buying a barrel blank and machining it to fit. Heavier involves less work as you don't have to turn to contour on lathe.
