Anyone know if an sks barrel could be threaded and fitted with a Surefire muzzle brake adapter?
Probably could be. Tough part may be getting concentric threads. Some were bored off center. Could lead to baffle strikes if you are thinking suppressor host and subsonic handloads.
There are ways to get the barrel threaded concentric to an off center bore but I'm not sure of places that do it. Also not sure of the diameters of adaptors available from Surefire. Also don't know about the added stress on the SKS gas system with the two pistons, and how well they would handle the increase in back pressure.
Interesting idea. Keep us posted on what you find out.
HR Barrelworks on facebook. Disabled LEO . He does fabulous work and very cheap. Check out his work, it is top notch. He can tell you if it can be done. He usually gets $55 to cut , thread and crown the barrel , if you send a break he will usually index it for free so you wont have to shim it .
I'm a machinist and a gunsmith and it can be done..not easily but not impossible
