We would, however, be remiss if we didn't mention that putting the barrel back on SHOULD require a check to make sure you have not compromised your headspace.

If that were to happen: Best case, your accuracy goes to crap. Worst case = kaboom. :eek:

As a matter of fact, it's not neccesary to check headspace on either Ruger 10/22 or Remington 597 when changing barrels. The way they're designed, the bolt is "self adjusting" for what tiny tolerances may exist.
Interesting. I will have to look further into that as it was something I had not noticed before... thanks for the clarification.
