Ok, I see Sig lists their barrel length as 3.3" for the officer size and Kimber lists theirs as 3". Are they just measuring differently? I see they list the same total length for the 2 guns, so I don't know how else they would have different barrel lengths. Also the ejection port seems to be in the same place relative to the trigger.

No comments at all on this? Surely someone knows or is it that stupid of a question?

I guess .3 inches just doesn't matter much. Buy the one you like best and enjoy it. No need to get bogged down in the minute details.

I thought that was the whole point of this forum? Lol. Clearly different manufacturers measure width differently, I'm just wondering if it's the same with the barrels.

I just ordered a STI Escort from Gun Broker. The price was right and I think it's a step up from the SIG.

the original Colt Officer model had a 3.5" barrel. many that have the 3" barrels are considered miicro 1911's IIRC.

have a SA Loaded Micro Compact 45 that has the 3" barrel.

I have never fired the sig I have no opinion. The Kimber Ultra II with night sights is a very nice gun. The range I shot the Kimber at only has a 15 yard pistol range. The Kimber is combat accurate at 15 yards. I was just tearing the bullseye up on a man sized silhouette.

I appreciate the responses but it's gotten off topic a bit. I'm just asking if there is a real difference in the barrel length between the Sig and Kimber, since they are listed as the same overall length, or do they measure the barrels differently.
