Bought some today to see what the fuss is all about. I typically use Hoppes #9 on patches followed by a bore snake followed by Brite Bore and another snake or two. This has worked well. I have also used Frog Lube solvent and CLP. It's okay, smells good, but it's no better than my old method and products. Today I tried Ballistol. First impression, ugh does this stuff stink! It's okay as a cleaner. It's not the end all be all though, no better than my original method of cleaning.

It is very popular with Black Powder users. It is not so much a cleaner as it provides protection against rust. The German army used it to protect the rifles from corrosive primer residue.
Clean you firearms bore and then wipe it down with Ballistol.:)
