Ok, is it a regional name thing, or are there genetic differences? I came across this one at the Pilot Truck Stop Friday night. Look at the claws!

Yes, definitely a badger. They are pretty tough critters. Don't try to pet it. :D

You need a weinie dog to help hunt that thing. I've always wanted to see one or two dashounds go after one.

With those claws, I would be afraid that it would tear the pups apart.

Yep, badger would definitely win. They can take on critters much larger than they are. They are pretty darn tough.

Woverines are a whole different animal. Both very good fighters.

That's what I've always wondered about but my mom has 10 of them(she breeds, shes not the crazy dog lady.....yet.) and I've see them work together. As one retreats another is moving in from a completely different angle. A cat didn't stand a chance against 3 of them(we saved the cat).

Whoa!! I'd never suspect that doxies could take down a badger. I'm impressed. Those are some tough weiner dogs!! Do the dogs do the killing themselves or do they corner and hold the animal until it is shot by the hunter?

I don't know about who does the killing. I've been trying to find how the actual hunt goes but I haven't been able to as of yet. I know the dogs chase them and apparently go into the den sometimes. If I had to guess I would say that the dog is used to track, find and flush the badger.

Here kitty,kitty...... Nice pics, how long before you hauled ass outa there? Saw some nitwit in broad daylight approaching a racoon. I suspected that that coon was rabid, as they usually stay hidden till dark. He was within 20 ft of it, don't know why he was trying to approach it. I just know it didn't seem a smart thing to do.

Came upon a badger on a deer carcass two mornings in a row and both times the badger stood it's ground and I left. Mama didn't raise no fool. Go Bucky!

Keep in mind most of the Doxies around now are actually minis. Full sied doxies are actually a lot bigger.

    Badger is a badass.
Wolverine is a badass on steroids, PCP, with an abcessed tooth (if female, with PMS) In Alaska was known as the Skunk-Bear. Had friend that was landing a Huey in remote area. Wolverine decided to attack the helicopter. Gill shot the thing with his 45 through the port hatch- it was chewing on the tip of the landing skid. It left marks in the metal skid.
