I know many AKs have a stock that collapses around the reciever.

Isn't it cooler to have a gun that collapses into the stock?

Kinda hard to shoot with the gun collapsed into the stock, but you can still shoot with the stock collapsed or folded on an AK. Usability > form.
    :D

I will admit that the idea of a more easily packable firearm for emergency use is neat. A cousin of mine had a M6 survival gun with the .22 hornet & .410 shotty barrels under/over; that was an awesome little firearm. I still remember being surprised by the perceived power of the hornet.

If they're good enough for James Bond to shoot down a helicopter...

I've got one. If I had it to do over again, I'd get a 10/22. Or a Marlin.

The AR-7 does break down nice and small and accuracy is reasonable, but you can put no more than about 60 rounds through it before it starts jamming and you need to clean it.

Yeah, if I'm putting something in the BOB it's gonna have to require minimal cleaning. Something like. . . an AK47! :)
