Hey guys, I've finally made the decision to go with Wilson Combat for my barrel-maker. I want to get a 20" .223 Wylde 1-8 barrel. I found two, one on Wilson's site, and another on Fulton-Armory's site.

My question is - is the one being sold by Fulton the same as the one on WC's site? The only exception being, Fulton's is threaded. Bellow are the links.

    Wilson Combat - http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Wilson-...-Twist-Stainless/productinfo/TR-223SS20NF-18/

    Fulton-Armory - http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfa20nmhbarss1x9threaded.aspx

If they are the same, I figure I'd go with Fulton's since it's less expensive AND is threaded. My guess is that Fulton buys in bulk, therefore can sell at lower cost. Can someone confirm this for me???

    Please and thank you!!

I assumed ;) they ment Wilson Arms. Most will shout Wilson Combat to the ends of the Earth if it is Wilson Combat. Your best bet would be to call them.

Very true. I have a Wilson Arms barrel in my ArmaLite upper. It's ok, just average, nothing horrible, nothing to brag about either. Wilson Combat is a tier above.

Wow, they replied very quickly! Here's the email exchanged:

    Thanks for the interest

    A. Yes & No...Wylde is a specific brand name of reamer...so it is not a Wylde but is essentially the same (Kleenex vs Tissues)

    B. FA is Fulton Armory, Wilson is Wilson Arms

    C. Shipping is based off order total.... $101-$200 ships for $15.....$201-$350 ships for $20

    D. Your order will ship within 2-3 business days of you placing the order and transit time to FL is 3 days

    Regards,
    Clint Jr.

Subject: Interested in one of your products

    Greetings,

I am interested in one of your AR15 barrels - specifically the one entitled "Barrel, 20", AR, HBAR, Stainless, Threaded, Match Quality, FA by Wilson"

I do have a few questions about it.

    A. When you refer to it as "hybrid" .223/5.56mm, do you mean it's a ".223 Wylde" chambered barrel?

    B. In the title it states "FA by Wilson" - what does "FA" stand for and are you referring to "Wilson Arms" or "Wilson Combat?"

    C. What are your shipping charges if shipped to Miami, FL?

    D. What is the shipping time?

I hope to hear from you soon and thank you for answering my questions. =)

Yeah. Bench/Tri-pod. Mostly aiming for long range. Which is hard to do in Miami. -__- I hate living here. Lol

I'm thinking 650-800 range. Reason being I have to find a good spot somewhere in the Everglades to shoot. The range here only goes up to 200 -__-

650 shouldn't be too hard with a 20" not sure, but I haven't done the math. I'm pretty sure a 20" will keep you super sonic out to 650. But if you are talking about 800, there's a lot of special considerations when you get to those ranges. Bull barrels would be better, as would longer barrels for more velocity. Also when you start talking about 24" bulls, you make need to look into a stronger upper reciever to handle all that weight. Also handloading 77+ grain projectiles would be key.

The upper I'm getting is pretty beefy so it shouldn't be an issue. VLTOR MUR - the one with forward assist and ejection port cover, not the one without it, it seems a bit wimpy to me. I've read pretty good reviews on it and love the way it looks.

As for hand loading my rounds, I'll likely have to stick with store bought as I don't have the equipment for it. Probably pay a few extra bucks for better quality though. =/

The Vltor MUR is a great upper! I'm sure you'll love it!

As for Factory ammo, I've seen 77gr SMKs, but never seen factory 80gr. Let us know what you find!
