after some thought about the 2 rifles .....im gonna leave it to the experts here .Other than cost of of practice ammo( mil surplus 8mm ) the 2 calibers are almost in a dead heat ....I have found that the difference in rifle purchase price is not enough to sway me . My question is about real world accuracy in hunting situations and if shtf ,trajectory out to ....400-500 yrds. Do bdc optics work as advertised with 200 grain bullets? I have a .308 pump remmy and an 06 browning lever , but would like an semi-auto big bore .... Thanks Powg.

bdc work with a given bullet weight and velocity. so if you go with a different bullet or velocity or mix of the two the further out you go the worse it gets.

for hunting accuracy either rifle will work. for parts availability and precision and ammo availability its the ar10 hands down
