I need a reccomendation for a buddy who is in the market for a variable magification scope for his AR. His budget is ~$150.. He's shooting 50-100' and would like something compact, it would be mounted on a flattop A3. He's been lookin at some crappy scopes on cheaperthandirt by BEC for like $60 but I told him he's throwing his money away. I don't know anything about scopes since I went with an Eotech setup on mine which is a bit out of his price range thanks all
He doesn't need a variable power for 50 - 100yd. shooting. I would look at the Nikon Pro Staff in Walmart for $150.They have a couple on sale - one is a fixed 4x, which would be ideal for what your friend wants to do, and the other is a variable 2-7x for $199. I have a 4x on my AR and I can shoot sub1" groups at 100 yds all day with it. Higher magnification at short range is an impediment, not a help.
