AR 15 gas pistons

    i have an ar 15 project in process and the one thing i have not before is install a gas piston and im wondering if just an ordinary gas block will work or do i have to find something very specific?

    Not 100% sure but I believe that a different type of gas block is required. The piston rod has to mate up to the gas block, don't think that's possible with a DI type block which is set up for a tube. Also, specific piston systems may be proprietary where the block and piston are integral to each other and will not connect with generic parts...the gas key, hand guards, guard ring also need to be built to accept a piston system.

    does any one know if any companies make a low profile gas block for a gas piston?

    There's a site called Del-Ton.com that lists a few low profile gas blocks, but none specified piston.

    ...and I found this on You Tube. A web search for "AR low profile gas block piston" should get you plenty of results to weed through.
