Is M61 Blacktip Armor Piercing in 7.62x51 still available commercially? I'm not plannin a party, just askin.

I'm assuming AP/API is getting scarce as existing sources dry up...

No.

It got caught up in the armor piercing ammo ban. You can possess it, shoot it and I guess stockpile it. You just can't buy it from a dealer.

But you can buy all of the surplus M-2 AP for .30-06 as you can afford. (of course it isn't made anymore, so when the existing stocks run out it won't be available either.)

if you want some really effective ap type stuff look into dangerous game bullets. much better than AP stuff. 500 grain copper solid out of a 458 lott beats the snot out of any 308 loading :D

(.50 cal rounds will penetrate the "armor" on most M113 drevived vehicles as well as many civilian armored vehicles)

Yeah, but with that .458 Lott or a .50 BMG, the buttstock just might penetrate your shoulder.:(:(

Huh? and how is that going to happen? The AP, Dangerous Game solid, steel core, enhanced penetration, extreme zombie ammo does not have any different recoil characteristics than same weight/velocity soft point ammo. There is not anything "magical" about such ammo. The laws of physics still apply.

Or did I miss the sarcasm font that negates the presumption of stupidity.

Yep.
Regardless of ammo used, I wouldn't want a .458 Lott going off it the stock was up against MY shoulder:(
