I have a Ruger SR9 that I love, but I do not like the rough finish found on the back of the barrel. The part you see through the slide is just not attractive, especially considering the way it wears as the gun is used... Is there anyone out there who could take a stock photo and show me what it would look like if this area were to be jeweled? Also, anyone know someone who could do the job? What sort of expense would I be looking at? I appreciate any help ya'll can offer...:D

Just to clarify, my SR9 is the duotone with stainless slide...

That would be me (with the mad skillz). But you don't need a photoshop job to see what a jeweled barrel would look like against a black slide. Just check out this page Pistol Jeweling /Custom Jewel Shop -- Precision Engine Turning by Moskalick for some examples.

Your local dealer should be able to give you some names of gunsmiths around you. Give them a call or stop in for prices.

If you have a small drill press you can do your own jeweling.
Here is a video that shows how.

I think you might have created a monster here by posting the links to the 1911s with the jeweling. I don't want to go overboard, but I think just jeweling the barrel hood would look really good on my custom commander.

That video makes it look super easy. I have the most solid drill press vise I could use, I just need to get my hands on one of those sanding/buffing bits.

I found a gunsmith on eBay that offered jeweling on barrel hoods and I went ahead and bought it. $26 including return shipping, which is a lot cheaper than I could have bought a decent vise and the abrasive bit. I'll be sure and post photos when I get it back.

And just for reference, I called two local gunsmiths and they both quoted me $50 for the same thing.
