of course the offer of 1000rds, which I accepted, is Winchester's way of getting "off the hook" for any further action by me (regards the damaged Rifle) - but that's ok with me and the damaged Rifle has found a good home (with my LEO BIL) who'll do right by it - and - I was never going after Winchester for anything but replacement ammo (or the cost of the ammo that I sent to them for inspection) - so all is good

now, just need to sight-in the optic that I put on my Wife's new Ruger American .17hmr.....

My experience: A fun dance on this faulty ammo comes with the blaming. One company blames the rifle the other blames the ammo. I've had some pretty badly ruptured cases on my Mark II 93R17 and B-mag. Never enough to do physical damage to the firearm. I've not had problems with CCI or Hornady branded HMR rounds. No more Winchester.

Winchester seems to have a lot of problems and subsequent bad mouthing in many venues due to ammo issues. One would think they could make ammo by now.....
