I was surfing the web and I literally found 3 pictures of some of my weapons I had posted pictures of on my photobucket account! It seems there are a lot of trolls out there that will use pictures of other peoples stuff and say it is their own!

I'm officially deleting my photobucket account this evening.....

I've seen photobucket, facebook, myspace, ect. pics show up on google images. Once you put something online, it's there for everyone to see/use.

Once it's online, it's everyone's property. There is no way to control what people do with it. If you don't want people to get something, don't make it digital.

Have explained to my grandkids- the internet is like herpes- it is forever.

When you put something on the net, it does not go away. ANYTHING you put on the net. Heck, Google your screen name and your real name, you will likely get some hits.

Advantage- helps identify the wannabees when they post pics of YOUR guns. Had a soldier of fantasy type posting pics of himself with his M60- told him the name of the guy holding the 60, since the guy standing behind him in the photo was ME.

All of my pics I've put up of my guns have been pretty crappy. Nobody will want those.

Don't delete the account. Just edit the pictures hosted on it. Hotlinks are just that, links. So if you change the picture the link points to you can have fun with those people.

It reminds me of a news story I heard a couple of years ago. 3 young teen girls (I think 13-14) were charged with distributing child pornography. Their dumb a**es posted nudey pics of themselves on myspace. Their defense? They didn't know it would be public.

I had a similar conversation as C3shooter, when a guy was claiming to be on the cover of "Leatherneck". It was actually myself and another friend of mine.

I had someone contact me out of the blue and ask permission to use a picture of my motorcycle on their website. I said yes, and thought that it was quite courteous that permission was sought. :)

I had a guy I've never heard of post a picture of my boat on his website and said it was his. This guy lives in New York.

If you see somebody claiming your stuff to be theirs on a forum, you should join up call them out on it and ask them to post some more photos.....when they start making excuses post some new ones of your gun(s) with current newspaper with "F*** you (insert their name)" written on it in sharpee :)
