I was shooting with my buddy, I had my cz p01 and he had his new g19 gen 4 at the range the other day.

His gun threw hot brass at your face like every 2 out of 10 rounds... mine did not? Is that normal? Can I get a different extractor to help?

Also his slide would release when you stick a mag in it with authority.. I tried with mine and I can't.. is that some feature glock has?

I was thinkin of getting a g19 to add to my compact 9mm collection, but am a little iffy of them now. I may go with a xd9 to relieve my tupperware fetish:p ♥♥

I have never shot a G19, have shot 17, 21 & 22, never had brass hit me in the face. Could be some sort of grip issue, but not sure.

Also, never had a slide release when inserting a mag.

Maybe your friend needs to have his pistol checked out by qualified 'smith.

My friend also has a G19 and was having the same issue. We figured it was just bouncing off the lane divider and hitting him in the face.

My bursa thunder releases the slide when you insert a fresh mag. Maybe it is something new with the gen 4. Not really a bad thing just one less steep to take when your being shot at. Unless the gun was not intended to do that.

As far as brass in the face it has only happened to me when hitting the lain divider. My wife took some 5.56 down her shirt from 15 feet away one time. I thought it was funny as hell. She was not to happy tho. Boy that M&P 15 really throws it out there.

You should have bin there the first time I took her to the range when we first met.
We just got out there and she noticed someone picking up his brass. She asked why he was doing that. I said to reload it or throw it in the bucket.
I pulled out my 30-06 and took a shot. As soon as the brass hit the ground she picked it up. All I here is a lowed S***. I looked and said oh yeah it's hot at first.lol

My G19 ejects at between 4:00 and 5:00, so I'm not surprised that someone is getting smacked by theirs. I know just the solution.

Seriously though, it isn't right. The extractor may need adjusting.

I love my 19, but if you decide against one, look at the S&W M&P9c, very nice guns

Gen 4 should do that, like some other guy said, find a qualified gunsmith and let him smoke it over.

^^ This with regards to casings flung back at you.

The slide should not release just because a new magazine is introduced. I own two Gen 4's and they definitely dont do this. I've also fired several Gen 3's and don't recall this ever happening. I'd suggest contacting a Glock Armorer and seeking their opinion.

My m&p releases when you slap a mag in it. It is intended to do so as far as i can tellI don't know much about glocks so I can't speak for them but I really like it for quick reloads. What I think happens is when you insert a msg with force, the slide release is jolted slightly. I would guess if he engages it manually that it will not slam closed.

I've owned a dozen or so Glocks and never had this problem. I do see reports though and my only guess is operator error such as limp wristing and allowing the gun to twist to an angle where it ejects at your face...

I get a round back at me every once and a while (G19). I never thought it was a problem. I'm shooting 115 gr. It never occurred to me it was the grains. I'll have to try some 124 gr.

If you have an early model Gen 4, you probably have the "bad" ejector. Mine was doing this too. I took it to Glock and they replaced it. Never had that problem again. Here is a pic. If your looks like or is a 336, you should send it in. The "new"ejector is on the bottom and fixes brass to the face issues
