mine is the 8.5 barrel ....aka'' travis bickle '' taxi driver edition 3 screw made in 1982.
Cool, so there is at least two of us here. I don't feel like the lone stranger no more, thanks
Technically the long barrel is 8 3/8". I have a 4" 629 and a 6" 29.
Along with 5 other N-frames.
That's it? ? ? I'd like to see proof!

Proof of what? That we own the firearms in question?
Usually a guy likes to show off his new toy. . .? Are we not doing that anymore?
Bummer. . .
I have a 629 and a 329 PD, both with 4" barrels. The 329 is my CCW gun, I don`t want to take a knife to a gun fight.
My 29-2 P&R 6" w/TT TH
Well, I DO like the Model 29 .44 Magnum, most of these have in excess of 10,000 rounds fired through them:
The 6" Full Lug barrel was originally an 8 3/8", cut to 6" by Memphis gunsmith Bob Mason.
Incidentally, the first long barrel .357 Magnums (Pre- Model 27s) had 8 3/4" barrels. These provided a sight radius longer than specified by the United States Revolver Association (USRA) so the length was shortened to 8 3/8" to comply with their standards. More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.
Right on Bob and Cane! Now that's some model 29 action!
The model 29 is the first gun on my to buy: list. I've had my eye out at several shows, including one last weekend, but haven't met "the one".
And Bob. . . It'd be a feat to give "More than I wanted to hear" about those beautiful 29s. Especially if they have more than 10,000 rounds each through them! I think I only have put 5,000 rounds of .44 mag down range period!
