Please give me any feedback you have concerning crossbows. I'm looking to buy a Barnett Predator or Penetrator.

My grandpa has one and i shoot it alot. Its a barnett im not sure what model. It came with a crank and he put a fixed 4x scope on it. At 65 yards you can robin hood the arrows with practice. Hunting distance, if you're hunting would be probly 40 yards max. The cbow is capable of more but the noise it makes while minimal would possibly alert the prey into moving before the arrow gets there thus your arrow may not kill the intended target.

As to your actual question either of these crossbows would be wonderful. I enjoy cross bows and even considered one before settling on my current compound bow.

i've owned three Barnett crossbows including my current Revolution XS which is a good crossbow.

The Barnett Quad 400 crossbow has a flimsy scope mount: The scope on mine was nearly always out of zero.

Now that makes absolutely NO sense!

To the OP,There are many crossbows on the market today.Find an archery shop that carries several brands, and then shoot as many different one's as you can,and decide which fit's your need's best.
You'll be surprised by the difference between each crossbow. Some are very noisy, some are very heavy to hold offhand and shoot accurately. Some are very wide, and that affects the ability to hunt from blinds, etc.
Don't get caught up with all the high FPS claims that the mfg's claim, most won't come close to that in a hunting set up. Just about any 150-175lb bow will put meat on the table,at ranges of 50 yards or less.
