Alright guys Im looking for a decent AR10 in that $1200-1600 range . Optics are a non issue I already have that covered . I really have not gotten into the .308 auto feeder market at all . Whats decent and what should I stay away from. I want a reliable , accurate rifle that uses the .308 Pmags .
    Thanks for the help

In that price range, DPMS, for a rifle that uses PMAGs. Armalites use modified M14 mags. LaRues are more expensive. RRA uses FAL mags. CMMG makes lowers that take PMAGs.
Fulton Armory makes .308 ARs that take PMAGs and some may fall in that price range.

Take a look at the Smith and Wesson M&P 10. 18" midlength gas, lightweight profile barrel with full ambi controls, uses Pmags and weighs 7.75 lbs empty! The reviews I have found are showing impressive accuracy too. They can be found from 1250-1500 pretty easily. Less if you are LEO or military. I rarely get to shoot past 300 yards, so a bull barreled .308 with bipod, etc would be a waste for my uses. This looks like a great hunting rifle option. Troy, Apex and Midwest Industries have rails that will work with them too.

Rifles in the "AR 10" style platform are a pain in the butt trying to figure out what to buy. I went with a DPMS when I bought one,and there are several others that use the same platform that DPMS does. Their platform seem to have the most options for the aftermarket accessories.
While there are other brands that offer better rifles,I've been happy with my DPMS. I had an issue with the buffer spring out of the box,it had the wrong spring in it. And,the factory trigger sucks, but I knew that going into it. I replaced it with a RRA NM 2 stage trigger, and it is a great gun now.

POF,LMT,and others have better rifles, but at 3x of what the DPMS cost, and I can do a lot of things to mine if I want with the $2k less price tag of the DPMS LR series.

My rifle is in 260 Remington,I didn't want another 308 in the safe.

A bit off topic but take a look at the PTR built HK 91 clone. Less than a grand at CDNN right now and a purpose built 308 autoloader. I own this rifle and a DPMS AR10, really prefer the HK. This rifle is built with new US barrel and an import parts kit.

Nice ergo design. Much better charging handle design. Nice HK collapsing paratrooper stock avalible. I think magpul also makes a PRS type stock to fit it... ;)

Mags are cheap, like $5 for a 20 rounder and are much better than the various Ar10 designs, no cross platform on the AR. The money you save can buy you a stanag claw mount and a good optic. Amazon has a few different options.

Worth a look if your heart isn't already set on the AR.

I ended up trading my vector for this one . Picking it up tomorrow . I kept my rds and the Diamond Head sights . He kept his magpuls and fakotech .
I will be shopping for a new gasblock, non quad rail handguard , and either putting on a vortex 6-18 or a nikon monarch 6-18
I got 4 mags and 60 rds with it .

He sure had it set up strange. A precision rifle stock with a RDS and vertical grip?
Are you going to swap the grip and stock too? You could throw on a miad and CTR and have a handy 16" .308.

Its getting major changes , I dont like that grip at all. Forward grips are not my thing , . The guy had it to bear hunt with . Lol
Will probably keep the stock for another project . See how this barrel shoots , may go to a 20" barrel
My plans are to sell off some of the crap I dont want to fund a longer barrel
It does have some upgraded parts, which is wierd the way its set up. Chrome bcg, 2 stage trigger ,

I'm thinking I might like to go with a 20" barrel after the first of the year . Would really like to make this a good 800 yard gun and I'm not sure the 16" barrel is up to it. Anyone else have a 16" barrel that would like to put forth some info . Looking at the rainier arms ultra match barrels

I went to a custom turned 26" .308 varmit barrel on mine. She's a heavy ***** to carry, but very accurate. Used her for stand hunting hogs overlooking a field water trough, 325 yard to close end of field, 900 to far tree line. She can make any shot needed... ;) Much too heavy for a carry hunt, ~16 lbs.

Been thinking about a lighter proflie 20-22 upper for it, maybe in 6.5 crredmore. Probably not anytime soon, need to finish a couple other builds first.

Where I got my , he's got an 18" Mega barrel in stock now. Keep checking back, stock changes often here.
