Thought I wuld share these photos of targets with you. I have decided to stay with the 168 Berger VLD Hunting bullet for this season in the .300. It is getting so close now that I decided to quit fooling around with tests.
I had loaded only 5 rounds in the test groups for the .300 so I had to stop when i ran out of ammo.
The target on the left is the 155 gr. Berger and the target on the left is the 168 Berger.
The hole in #9 is the first three shots I fired so with two rounds left I decided to tweak the scope to center and raise the shots 3" but I tweaked too much and hit up in #6. I let myself and the rifle cool a bit and reset the scope and hit exactly at the bottom of 8 which is where I wanted it to go.

Now to the .30-06 target. This is the rifle I have had to contunually clean the bore for copper fouling. In the beginning it would group like a shotgun, but after I got about a ton of copper out it began to group. I first thought that my son had wasted the money he spent on free floating, bedding and a trigger job. Anyway the first group (all with 168gr. SMKs) is a group of 4 shots in #9 then I tweaked the scope and the second group is the three in center of #8.

I did shoot long range on August 4 with the .300 and '06. The .300 is 3 1/2" high at 200 yards, dead on at 300 and 12" low at 400. The '06 is dead on at 200 and 6 1/2" low at 300.

The '06 does seem to shoot the 165 gr. Accubond well so I will begin working up loads with it for hunting ammo.

I would post some shot with the M700 .308 5R, but it shoots everything extremely well so I rekon there's no sense in bragging on it.
